Interested in joining a fast-moving, leading-edge AI-focused Seattle-based startup in controlled environment agriculture (CEA)? The IUNU engineering team is seeking a strong engineering management leader for our Software Development Team.

This is a cross-functional role, where you'll work closely with Product, Design, and the IUNU Leadership team to drive new features and value for growers worldwide. Your feedback on products and designs will be critical to the development cadence and focus of the team. You will provide technical leadership and hire and manage talented engineers to move the company forward. You will help mentor people and encourage collaboration across the organization to ensure the long-term success of all those around you.

You are passionate about software development and best practices

  • You can spot the strengths and weaknesses within an organization and make quick adjustments based on current conditions and your prior engineering management experiences
  • You are a driver in a fast-paced environment and take initiative on the long-term goals while achieving short-term objectives
  • Your team trusts your ability to delegate and lead
  • You can hire and retain talented engineers
  • You understand a technology stack well enough to drive alignment
  • You don't give up when faced with obstacles and are willing to do what it takes to be successful

 Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in production software development, with 5+ years in a engineering management role
  • You have recent coding experience
  • Strong technical expertise in software development and architectures
  • Experience in languages and technologies:
    • Typescript/Javascript (Node.js and React)
    • GraphQL and REST-based APIs
    • Relational databases such as Postgres
  • Track record of successfully leading high-performing software teams 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other teams and stakeholders
  • Experience in a startup environment
  • Experience with systems architecture design
  • Recent experience with systems architecture design and then leading a team through those architectural decisions

Nice to Have:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in AgTech or systems critical enterprise software
  • Technologies:
    • Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
    • Python
    • Ruby/Ruby on Rails
  • Located in the Seattle area, or willing to move
